Les favorites s’han endut els seus premis i hi ha hagut poques sorpreses a l’edició 2022 del Globus d’or. Només Steven Spielberg i el seu nou West Side Story han aiguat la festa a HBO i Netflix que han estat les grans vencedores de la nit amb un total de 7 i 5 premis respectivament. El film The Power of the Dog (que liderava les nominacions amb 7 candidatures) ha estat el més agraciat amb 3 guardons incloent el de Millor Pel·lícula dramàtica, Millor direcció per Jane Campion i Millor Actor Secundari per Kodi Smit-McPhee. Una gran victòria per a Netflix que col·loca aquest peculiar i intimista western com a una de les pel·lícules més importants de l’any.
En l’apartat de Comèdia-Musical West Side Story ha triomfat còmodament i a més ha entronat les seves actrius Rachel Zegler i Ariana DeBoss a les categories de millor interpretació protagonista i secundària respectivament. Les sorpreses han estat els solitaris premis de Will Smith per King Richard i Andrew Garfield per Tick, Tick… Boom. Kenneth Branagh i el seu Belfast (que sortien amb 7 nominacions) marxen amb un premi de consolació al millor guió.
En la secció televisiva Succession (HBO) també ha complert el pronòstics i ha estat la gran vencedora amb les estatuetes a la Millor Sèrie dramàtica, Millor Actor dramàtic per Jeremy Strong i Millor Actriu secundària per Sarah Snook. HBO pot treure pit també en l’apartat de comèdia, ja que Hacks ha sorprès tothom vencent en aquesta categoria i en la de Millor Actriu de Comèdia per Jean Smart. Un dels premis més inesperats ha estat el de la Millor minisèrie (autoconclusiva). The Underground Railroad (Amazon Prime) ha estat la vencedora superant la favorita Mare of Easttown que malgrat tot ha aconseguit un merescut premi a la Millor Actriu per Kate Winslet. La sorpresa de l’any, 오징어 게임 (El juego del calamar) també ha tingut el seu premi de consolació per l’actor O Yeong-su i el seu polifacètic paper d’avi a la sèrie més vista de l’any.
Els premis de la polèmica
Recordem que aquests guardons els lliura la Hollywood Foreign Press Association – HFPA (Associació de Premsa Estrangera). Enguany la gala ve precedida de polèmica, ja que diverses organitzacions de mitjans de comunicació (incloent-hi l’emissora regular NBC), actors, i altres organitzacions han boicotejat la cerimònia pels esforços insuficients de l’HFPA per fer front a la diversitat d’afiliació de l’organització. Aquest any 21 nous membres han entrat a l’associació, però fins ara eren només uns 86 els participants de l’ens. També s’ha anunciat que s’ha signat un acord amb l’Associació Nacional per al Progrés de les Persones de Raça Negra i un nou comitè de supervisió dels premis. De fet, aquest any no hi ha hagut ni una gala pròpiament dita, ni catifa vermella, ni convidats. Això no treu, però, que hi hagi una llista de premiats.
