La reina de les plataformes ha estat coronada, un cop més com a la més premiada a la cerimònia dels Emmys del 2021. Els premis de la TV tenen una sèrie que és la clara vencedora de la gala: The Crown. La popular ficció basada en fets reals s’ha endut els set premis als quals aspirava en la categoria de drama incloent el de Millor Sèrie, Millor Direcció, Millor Guió i guardó per a tots els seus intèrprets (principals i secundaris). No ha tingut rival.
Un fet similar s’ha donat en l’apartat de comèdia. La sèrie d’Apple TV Ted Lasso s’ha endut gran part dels premis (Millor Sèrie i les interpretacions) però ha deixat un premi de consolació per Hacks (el de Millor Direcció i Millor Guió).
La guerra més ferotge de la nit l’han protagonitzat dues series protagonitzades per dones a la categoria de Minisèrie The Queen’s Gambit i Mare of Easttown han anat frec a frec en premis. La gran sèrie d’escac de Netflix ha guanyat la partida ja que s’ha endut a casa el premi a la Millor Minisèrie i Millor Direcció però el thriller d’HBO ha acaparat els premis interpretatius i Kate Winslet li ha pres el reconeixement a Anna Taylor Joy.
La gran derrotada d’aquesta gran nit de Netflix ha estat Disney+ que ha tornat a casa amb les mans buides i sense cap reconeixement per a The Mandalorian i WandaVision.
